Glass hand-pressed buttons decorated with various motifs are made in the Jablonec region and in the Jizera Mountains from the second half of the 18th century to the present.The Jablonec button is a term in the Czech Republic and in the world. It was an indispensable fashion accessory for all types of clothing, an important export item for glass and jewelery manufacturers and a source of livelihood for thousands of families in the Jizera Mountains. At the beginning of the 21st century, only a few individuals are engaged in the production of traditional buttons in the Jablonec region. The demand for the Jablonec button is mainly made up of customers from the USA and Japan in the area of collecting and small domestic production of unique jewelry.
